Runescape
Hello, I am [ADMIN] Gummy and I play the MMORPG 'Runescape' - a game created by Jagex Games Studio and released as a beta in January of 2001. 12 years later the game has gone through many large updates such as a second version of the game taking it from 2D to 3D and eventually leading to a full-screen with HD graphical options. More recently the 'Evolution of Combat' was released on November 20, 2012. The 'EoC' as people now refer to this version of the game as modernized the combat formula, animations and abilities similar to other big name MMORPGs in existence (such as WoW).
A couple weeks ago saw the release of a 2007 version of the game termed 'Old School Runescape' reborn courtesy of a large petition created by the Runescape fan-base. It has been a major hit with players as it allows us to revisit old training spots, pk with the old styles and skill without all of the newer additions to the main game that make training all too easy.
I personally have access to all three versions of this game and enjoy playing the latest two as sadly the original version is left to <500 total players, generally <100 online at any given time and spread across a couple worlds.

Re: Runescape
I am also a RuneScape addict. Phase one in the 12 step program... Admit you have a problem
Okay, but seriously... I dabbed a bit in the first RuneScape, but started to seriously play late 2003. I've played without any quitting or breaks since then. Now I actively part-take in both the EOC and ORS/RS07 versions. Of the two, I sincerely like the ORS/RS07 the most

Re: Runescape
I'm a RuneScape addicted too, 2487 total, 111 dungeoneering and max cape, all tasks, all quests, and I been playing for approximately 9 years now , I refuse to quit because it's my get away spot and I hug the floor too much on Call of Duty to use that as a replacement game. I'm big into pvming/bossing, so if anyone wants to do a few bosses with me~perferrably bandos or arma you can pm me in game, my RSN is "xChimpanzee", at least for another 28 days till I change it again, but bossing is held off until after 120 dungeoneering.

OMG! RS3 Was announced today!
Are you guys excited for this or not?
Personally, I'm a bit excited, and a bit relieved, mainly because keeping Java on my comp (with it being exploited so quickly nowadays) was getting annoying, so the transition to HTML5 is a good plus.

Re: Runescape
Yes and no. They said that "you will not have to create a new account, you will have the same avatar as you've always had." But that is not reassuring to me, seeing as I did not have to create a new account whilst playing 07... But I still started all over.
Therefore, I'm really apprehensive of this on the off chance that all of the hard work I have put into my account since 2003 will be rendered worthless.
All of the new graphical updates, etc. seem very exciting and I am, indeed, excited for that, but am wondering what will occur for older players? Once "RuneScape 2" came out, the "RuneScape Classic" didn't really see anymore new updates to content, etc., so will this occur with RS2? These are the things in which I'm wondering the most.
I will part-take and have fun in RS3, but I'd like to still try and max out the account I've spent so much time, effort, and money on.

Nope, your account will remain in the EXACT same state, I'll explain why,
When RS went from RSClassic -> RS2, it was a MAJOR change for the graphics and the whole game engine, and quite a bit of stuff was added and removed, in that transition aswell, even then, accounts were transitioned over with new graphics, I believe. Also, the reason people had to restart on old school RS was because Jagex only had a Game engine backup of the game during that time period, they did not possess a back-up of account information of that time, hence the most fair way was to make everyone get a fresh start. Btw, the only RS2 playable version left to be played on would be RS07, the current accounts and items will be transitioned into the new game engine, and your stats, gold stack, and everything will remain EXACTLY the same.

[ADMIN] Kelly wrote:That put me in a better outlook on RS3, tbh
Yep, Glad I could clear it up for you!
IMO, if Jagex did that, they would surely lose most, if not, all of their "actual" players. So for them, this is also a question about customer satisfaction, meaning you should be fine. The only thing would be, to get used to the new graphics.

Re: Runescape
Graphics I'm fine with as long as:
1. My computer doesn't cry acid (meaning it won't be laggy, but seeing as they practically jizzed talking about it, I'm confident I'll be fine )
2. It isn't anything like Call of Duty where it's first person and a lot of motion is involved (I get motion sickness easy)
So as long as those two things are okay, I'm fine with graphics regardless how crappy they are

1) HTML5 is supposedly more effective in it's use of hardware, so you should see better graphics on HTML5 and with that leaving less strain on your computer.
2) Its still the same type of view on the person, Just I guess by more flexibility, I guess now you can control how closely you can view your character (how far the camera if from the character)

No idea (haven't looked into it, haven't thought about it whatsoever, only real changes are audio, graphics, change to html5 though can still use java if you wish and an apparent ability to set up your game screen as you want it none of which stand out to me overall). I was going to just leave it at "no idea", but then you guys would have asked what I meant or thought negatively "well he could have at least explained it a bit more" so there you go.
Also...
Re: Runescape
I have been a RuneScape addict for over 8 years now.. & I have a Completionists cape.
SO if they did make us start all over again I would definitely quit..
Hence why I'm very glad that they won't do that to us x]

O, don't feel bad, I've been playing since '05 and only have 1 99.

Don't worry, you can't have less of a life than me, so it's all good. If I put all the effort I put into other people's accounts/hosting I would have trimmed comp atm.

This I can whole heartedly confirm (the effort put into the things he mentioned). But he does have a life. If he didn't have a life, he'd apply for Mod. Mind fucked, yet?
Re: Runescape
Been playing on this particular account for under 6 years, and right over 5 years, I'm maxed, 113 dungeoneering, and over 550 days on my adventurers log.
And on the topic of RS3, it's still the same RuneScape, just going to be playable with HTML5, but can still be played on the Java Client. And those who think the HTML5 doesn't make such a big difference...
